Distribution Risk Management Supervisor
Job Summary





Provide site safety leadership by ensuring facility compliance with safety policies and programs, implementing safety directives, improving safety performance, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT and all other governmental regulations. Work with third-parties managing and providing a course of guidance on any incidents.








Typical Duties and Responsibilities

+ Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, improve safe work practices, and identify potential safety hazards.

+ Drive a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.

+ Coordinate activities with the Risk Manager, Distribution and Transportation Management, Safety Committee Chairs, DC HR Generalists, and the VP of Environmental Affairs and Food Safety.

+ Report and manage loss activity with third-party insurance carriers.

+ Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, or federal requirements governing cleanliness, food storage safety, and pest control standards.

+ Conduct Employee Observations to ensure safety guidelines are followed. Address unsafe behaviors immediately.

+ Coordinate emergency evacuations; communicate with outside emergency response teams.

+ Conduct and/or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.

+ Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

+ Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes. Identify and initiate preventive measures and oversee return-to-work activities.

+ Provide advice and counsel for site Safety Committee Chairpersons and Distribution Staff on the required process and documentation to conduct accident and incident investigations, determine probable causes and make recommendations for corrective action.

+ Coordinate ordering and maintenance of facility safety inventory such as supplies and equipment.

+ Travel frequently to perform onsite Risk Management reviews, investigations, training, etc.

+ Perform other duties as needed or assigned.




Requirements


Education:

+ High school diploma or equivalent.




Experience:

+ At least 6 (six) years of progressive experience in a distribution center or risk management environment.

+ Previous experience administering company safety programs and/or safety committees.

+ Demonstrating history of clear and professional communication skills, utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

+ Communicate clearly to and professionally utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal skills to address workplace safety issues and administer established safety programs.

+ Demonstrate skills in leadership, organization and communication.

+ Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail in order to effectively monitor progress and complete assignments.

+ Apply working knowledge of material handling principles, practices and standards of warehousing and transportation.

+ Understand and convey overall company warehousing, transportation and risk management practices, policies and procedures.

+ Judge and react to shift operation needs.

+ Demonstrate initiative, self-direction, and possess excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.

+ Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and develop a strong rapport with others.

+ Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive information and perform all tasks with honesty and integrity.

+ Confidently and effectively handle difficult situations.

+ Establish and maintain good rapport with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, customers and others.

+ Stand and walk for long periods of time.

+ Respond to calls on urgent matters including after business hours, on weekends and holidays.

+ Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

+ Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.




Machines and Equipment Operated:

+ Computer keyboard, mouse, office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, scanner, etc.) and other devices.




Additional Requirements:

+ Acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles driving record.




Preferred Education, Experience and/or Credentials:

+ College degree or substantial responsible experience.

+ Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA), or other similar industry credentials.
